Education

1987 Abitur, grade 1.4 (BW)
1989 Started studying law in Heidelberg and continued in Cologne, specialising in commercial and corporate law.
1994 Graduated with the 1st state examination in Cologne.
1995 Started his doctorate at the Humboldt University in Berlin under Prof Dr Felix Herzog. Attended seminars with Prof. Dr Eberhard Schwark on banking law and with Prof. Dr Dr Christian Kirchner (†) on the practice of international accounting.

Career history

1995 – 1996 Worked as a proofreading assistant at the Viadrina University in Frankfurt/Oder and at the Humboldt University in Berlin
1996 – 1998 Legal clerkship at the Potsdam Regional Court.
1999 Admitted to the bar.
1999 Worked in his own law firm in Berlin-Kreuzberg.
2000 Completed his doctorate on the subject of liability and criminal liability of the GmbH managing director in the event of delay in filing for insolvency, grade: “summa cum laude”.
2000 – 2001 Legal advisor at Idealo Internet GmbH (www.idealo.de). Establishment of a company to operate the internet portal www.berlinstartup.de and sale of the company.
2001 – 2003 Worked in a law firm in Berlin-Mitte, specialising in media and software law.
2003 Own law firm in Prenzlauer Berg.
2005 – 2009 Partner in the law firm BDHSW-Rechtsanwälte, Berlin-Mitte.
2010 – 2013 Partner at Dürr & Höffner Rechtsanwälte.
2014 – 2018 Dr Koca & Paulikat RAe PartG, Berlin-Mitte.
2018 – today Dr Späth & Partner RAe PartG, Berlin-Charlottenburg.
